Introduction
Docfield provides every educational client with the opportunity to showcase their completed OER documents on our dedicated in-house publication page. This page is open to everyone and does not require any authentication for access.
Configure your Publication Page
Users with Owner permissions can easily customize the Publication Settings. To do so, simply go to the settings page (located in the navbar under the cog wheel icon) and then proceed to the Publication section in the sidebar.
You have the flexibility to customize the following aspects:
1. Set up a custom URL for your publications.
2. Choose the primary color for text.
3. Define the homepage title and description in both Dutch and English.
4. Upload a logo for the page.
5. Toggle the display of older versions of a specific document.
6. Enable or disable the automation of publishing documents when they reach their final workflow step.
7. Organize documents by academy through the option to group them.
Use custom URL for publications
When considering the use of a custom URL for your publications, we recommend reaching out to our support team. You can initiate this process by submitting an email to support@docfield.com, expressing your request to set up the custom URL that you will provide. This is necessary because Docfield must validate the SSL certificate issued by the Amazon certificate authority for the preferred URL. Once approved, our development team will configure the CloudFront distribution and provide the DNS C-record to the requesting party. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a secure and smooth setup process for your custom URL.
Example
As a user from HAN University of Applied Sciences, you aim to establish the public reader at oer.han.nl, commonly referred to as the domain name. Here's how you can proceed:
1. Contact your IT department to inquire about the availability and feasibility of setting up the domain name.
2. The IT department will handle the SSL certificate validation issued by the Amazon Certificate Authority.
3. Get in touch with Docfield support to request the connection of the domain name as the custom URL for publications.
4. Docfield will then create a CloudFront distribution and share the necessary information for the DNS C-record.
5. The IT department of the requesting party takes care of setting up the DNS, following the provided example image.
