Set Front Page in a Template

Gewijzigd op Wo, 23 Jul om 4:42 PM

In a template, you can set a front page. This will then automatically appear in the corresponding document and in the final PDF. The front page is useful if you want to add, for example, a cover page or a short introduction. You can set a background, place text blocks, and use Smartfields to automatically fill in information such as a name or date. You can also define the formatting of the text yourself, so the front page matches the rest of the document well.

Manage Front Page

To set up the front page, make sure it is enabled in the template settings. You can do this by clicking the three dots in the top right corner and then opening ‘Template settings’. There, check the option ‘Include front page’. If you decide later that you no longer want to use a front page, you can disable it in the same place. To open and edit the front page of the template, click on ‘Front Page’ in the left sidebar.

Copy and Paste Front Page

Have you already created a front page in another template? Then you can easily reuse it. Click the three dots in the top right corner and choose ‘Copy front page’. Then go to the other template, open the same menu with the three dots, and select ‘Paste front page’. All elements, text blocks, Smartfields, and background, will be transferred. You can still edit them afterwards.

Content and Formatting

Add or Remove Background

Add Background:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner.

  2. Select ‘Page Background’.

  3. Upload a PDF file as the background.
(Note: PNG and JPEG are not yet supported.)

Remove Background:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner again.

  2. Select ‘Page Background’.

  3. Click ‘Clear Background’ to remove the current background.

Add Text Blocks

At the bottom of the front page, click the blue button ‘Add text block’ to place a new text block. You can choose whether a text block is fixed (not editable in the document) or editable (the user can still change the text). Additionally, you can duplicate a text block, creating an exact copy on the front page, or delete it. Smartfields can also be added to text blocks, just like in other parts of the template.

Tip: Want to preview the front page in the PDF?
If you want to see how the front page looks in the PDF, download a test PDF from the template or the document.

Formatting (Styling)

You can change the formatting of text on the front page using the top toolbar. Here you can, for example:

  • Set the text size

  • Choose the font

  • Adjust the text color

  • Set a background color for the text

  • Apply other styles, just like you can in the rest of the template

Comments

You can also add comments on the front page. Keep in mind that you cannot highlight text as you can in other sections, so be sure to clearly specify which text or element your comment refers to.
